Bajaj Recalibrates Pulsar NS400Z to Meet GST 2.0 Norms with New 350cc Powertrain
Bajaj Auto has updated the Pulsar NS400Z with a new 349.13cc liquid-cooled engine to comply with GST 2.0 norms. Sharing its powertrain with the revised Dominar 400, the motorcycle now delivers 40.6PS and 33.2Nm. Despite the slight dip in displacement and power, the NS400Z retains its Rs 1,93,900 price tag in Delhi, maintaining its competitive edge in the evolving 350cc motorcycle segment.
While the exterior styling, comprehensive feature list, and mechanical hardware remain exactly the same on the surface, the core update is situated beneath the fuel tank. The NS400Z now utilizes a 349.13cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine shared with the recently revised Dominar 400. This new motor generates 40.6PS at 9,000rpm and 33.2Nm at 7,500rpm, which represents a slight dip of 2.4PS and 1.8Nm compared to the outgoing 373cc version. This reduction in total displacement is the result of a shorter stroke; the bore remains unchanged at 89mm, but the stroke has been reduced from 60mm to 56.1mm. This specific configuration is identical to the one seen on the 350cc Bajaj Dominar 400, ensuring a uni
form approach across the 350cc transitions executed by Bajaj, KTM, and Triumph.
Despite the shift to a smaller engine, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z continues to be listed at an unchanged price of Rs 1,93,900 ex-showroom, Delhi. Unlike the Dominar 400, which required a price realignment to maintain its market relevance, industry expectations suggest there will be no price correction for the NS400Z. Even in its new 350cc form, the motorcycle continues to produce a healthy 40PS and remains competitively positioned within its segment. By maintaining the current price point, Bajaj appears to have hit a sweet spot in the market, making any further pricing revisions in the near future highly unlikely as the brand solidifies its presence under the new regulatory framework.
